NYU Blanks Rams in Non-Conference Game

Riverdale, N.Y. - In a non-conference women's soccer game on a Monday evening, Farmingdale State was defeated 2-0 by NYU in Riverdale, N.Y. The Rams fell to 6-3-2 on the year, while the Violets improved to 6-3.

After a scoreless first half, senior forward Cami Crawford (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) scored after the pass was deflected by Melissa Menta (Somers, N.Y.) to put NYU ahead 1-0 with 41:13 remaining.

With 5:39 left to play, freshman forward Amy Elgin (Mechanicsburgh, Penn.) added the second goal of the game for the Violets to increase the advantage to 2-0.

NYU held on over the final minutes to earn a shutout in the non-conference matchup.

Junior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) recorded six saves for Farmingdale State, while sophomore Cassie Steinberg (Boca Raton, Fla.) stopped two shots in the victory.

The Rams next will play host to Manhattanville on Wednesday, October 1st at 4:00 p.m.
