Rams Open Skyline Play with Shutout of Mount Saint Vincent

Riverdale, N.Y. - In their first Skyline Conference game of 2014, Farmingdale State traveled to Mount Saint Vincent and earned a 3-0 victory this afternoon in Riverdale, N.Y.

Only 2:57 into the contest, freshman forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) connected for a score off senior midfielder Sam Johrden's (Deer Park, N.Y.) corner kick to give the Rams (4-2-2, 1-0) a 1-0 lead. Howard's early score in the 3rd minute was the only score of the first half. Farmingdale State outshot the Dolphins 11-6 and held a 4-0 corner kick advantage in the half.

Farmingdale State increased the lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute as junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) netted the pass from Howard. Sophomore midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) added the final goal of the game on Alena Gannon's (North Babylon, N.Y.) crossing pass from the right wing in the 65th minute.

Farmingdale State junior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) collected seven saves en route to the shutout victory.

The Rams next will host Eastern in a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 24th at 4:00 p.m.
