Farmingdale State - 2, Stevens - 1

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) broke a 1-1 tie with a score just over a minute into the second half, as the Rams held on for a 2-1 non-conference win over Stevens (3-3).

Ducks sophomore forward Raba Nassif (Northvale, N.J.) gave her team an early 1-0 lead with a quick move and shot from 10 yards out. Freshman forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) evened the score for Farmingdale State (3-2-1) in the 39th minute off a pass from junior midfielder Melissa Lijo* (Flushing, N.Y.). Though even at the break, Stevens held the 10-3 advantage in shots.

Thompson's score and eventual game-winner came 1:15 into the second after crosses from sophomore forward Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.). Stevens poured on 14 more shots in the half, but Rams junior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) made six saves in the second (of her 10 total) to preserve the 2-1 victory.

Ducks freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Mahnken (Bayville, N.J.) made four saves in defeat.

Farmingdale State will now travel to face Scranton on Saturday, September 20th in a non-conference game at 3:30 p.m.
