Howard Scores Twice as Rams Defeat Western Connecticut

Danbury, Conn. - Freshman forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored two first half goals leading Farmingdale State to a 3-1 non-conference win at Western Connecticut State University on Thursday evening.

With 30:10 remaining in the first half, Howard recorded her first score of the game off the pass from junior forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.). Only 8:48 later, Thompson scored to put Farmingdale State (2-2-1) ahead 2-0 midway through the first half. Less than six minutes later, Howard added her second goal of the game as junior defender Andrea Kiefer* (Centereach, N.Y.) tallied the assist. The Rams connected on three of their seven shots in the half.

Freshman midfielder Autumn Sorice (Bethel, Conn.) cut the Western Connecticut (2-3) deficit to 3-1 after scoring an unassisted goal in the 59th minute of action. Farmingdale State held their two goal lead the remainder of the way en route to the 3-1 non-conference victory.

Junior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) stopped six shots in the win for the Rams.

Farmingdale State next will host Stevens on Wednesday, September 17th at 4:00 p.m.
