Rams Shutout Maritime for Conference Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team improved to 8-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference action after today's 8-0 shutout victory over Maritime. The Privateers fell to 9-7 on the year and 2-4 in the Skyline Conference.

Freshman midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) put the Rams ahead 1-0 with an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute. Only 1:33 later, freshman midfielder Gabrielle Kasulke (Seaford, N.Y.) scored to increase Farmingdale State's lead to 2-0, before freshman midfielder Maria Raimondi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored the final goal of the half to give the Rams a 3-0 advantage at the break. Farmingdale State did not allow Maritime to attempt a shot in the first half.

In the second, sophomore forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) made it 4-0 on a breakaway in the 56th minute. Khare made it 5-0 with a header on a cross from Kasulke at 70:39 for her second goal of the game. Thompson scored her second off a pass from sophomore midfielder Deborah Gilwit (New Rochelle, N.Y.) with a shot from 10 yards out. Sophomore midfielder Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.) knocked in a short pass from freshman forward Mikayla Saborowski (Bellerose, N.Y.) and the last goal of the day was from freshman forward Alena Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.).

Sophomore goalkeeper Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y.) tallied 20 saves for the Privateers.

The Rams next will face NYU-Poly in a conference game on Monday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. The game will be played at Old Boy's H.S. in Brooklyn, N.Y.
