Farmingdale, N.Y. - Freshman midfielder Ashley Appel (Bellmore, N.Y.) scored with 3:49 left in the second half to lift Farmingdale State to a 1-0 victory over St. Joseph's (L.I.) today in a Skyline Conference women's soccer game held in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 7-7 overall, 3-0 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles fall to 9-5, 3-2.
In a scoreless first half, the Rams led 7-1 in shots and held a 2-1 corner advantage. The game remained tied 0-0 until the 87th minute when Appel sent the eventual game-winning shot from the right corner 25 yards out.
Farmingdale State will next host Maritime College on Sunday, October 13th in a Skyline game starting at Noon.
