Farmingdale, N.Y. - The seventh-ranked College of New Jersey women's soccer team earned a 1-0 non-conference victory over Farmingdale State this afternoon.
The Lions (5-0) scored first with 7:35 remaining in the first half on a header by junior forward Leigh Applestein (Pennington, N.J.) off junior defender Jordan Downs' (Brick, N.J.) corner kick. TCNJ outshot the Rams 4-1 in the first half and held a 6-1 corner kick advantage.
Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Monzillo (Medford, N.Y.) tallied four saves in the loss, while senior Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, N.J.) had three saves for TCNJ.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Stevens for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 18th at 4:00 p.m.
