Rams Shutout Manhattanville in Non-Conference Match

Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team earned a 4-0 non-conference victory over Manhattanville on Saturday evening. The Rams improved to 2-2 on the year.

Sophomore forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) gave the Rams a 1-0 lead only 10:45 into the game as both Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.) and Ashley Appel (Bellmore, N.Y.) recorded assists. With 11:44 remaining in the first half, Thompson scored her second goal of the game on a penalty kick to put Farmingdale State on top 2-0.

Late in the second half, freshman midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored off a cross in front by sophomore midfielder Melissa Lijo (Flushing, N.Y.) to increase the Rams advantage to three. Less than two minutes later, Lijo scored the games final goal en route to the 4-0 non-conference victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton Colo.) made one save in the win, while freshman Dolores Diemicke (North Massapequa, N.Y.) had 12 saves for Manhattanville.

Farmingdale State next will host Western Connecticut State on Wednesday, September 11th at 4:00 p.m.
