Farmingdale State Falls to Skidmore in Rams Classic

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team fell to 1-1 on the season after a 3-0 non-conference loss to Skidmore this morning in the 2013 Rams Classic. Skidmore improved to 1-0-1 on the year.

Skidmore broke the scoreless tie 8:01 into the game as senior midfielder Jen Wardyga (Barrington, R.I.) scored from in front of the net on a rebound off the crossbar. Only 3:14 later, the Thoroughbreds increased their advantage to 2-0 as sophomore forward Arena Manning (Cambridge, Mass.) netted the feed from Wardyga. In the final minute of the first half, junior midfielder Morgan Governale (Setauket, N.Y.) put the Thoroughbreds on top 3-0 with a shot to the top left corner from 20 yards out.

In the second half, the Rams held a 5-2 shot advantage but were unable to score as they dropped their first game of the season.

Farmingdale State next will face Eastern Connecticut in a non-conference game held at Manhattanville College on Friday, September 6th at 3:30 p.m.
