2012 Women's Soccer Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team captured their sixth consecutive Skyline Conference Championship after a 3-1 victory over top-seeded Mount Saint Mary College in the Skyline Finals.

The Rams traveled to Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. for the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. Farmingdale State faced Williams in the first round and trailed 1-0 at half before eventually falling 2-0. The Rams finished the season with a 13-8 overall record.

Sophomore defender Andrea Kiefer (Centereach, N.Y.) was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Star, while senior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.) also both earned First Team honors. Senior defender Jillian Lasota (Massapequa, N.Y.), senior midfielder Theresa Martorano (Commack, N.Y.), freshman forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and freshman goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) were named to the Second Team.

Thompson had a team-high 10 goals, while Merrill scored nine and had a team-leading nine assists for 27 points. Magee was third on the team with six goals, including four game-winning scores, while Martorano and senior forward Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) each tallied four scores.

Kiefer was named the Skyline Conference Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Sophomore defender Samantha Kender (Farmingdale, N.Y.) will join Kiefer as team captains for the upcoming 2013 season.

The Rams will be graduating six seniors this year.
