Norton, Mass. - Williams College, ranked ninth overall in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) national poll, earned a 2-0 victory against Farmingdale State College in the first round of the women's soccer NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Christina Mirrione '99 Stadium at Wheaton College.

Williams pushes its record to 13-3-2 overall and will take on #25 Wheaton (Mass.) College tomorrow, Sunday, November 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Rams conclude their season at 13-8 overall. Farmingdale State earned its sixth-straight postseason berth earlier this fall after winning the Skyline Conference championship for the sixth year in-a-row.

Senior midfielder/forward Caitlyn Clark (Middleton, Mass./Aztecs) opened up the scoring for the Ephs in the 26th minute with her third goal of the season. Clark corralled a pass sent in from the left corner by junior forward Carla Nicasio (Rowayton, Conn./Connecticut Football Club) and rifled home a shot behind Rams freshman goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo./High Point Regional) for a 1-0 advantage.

Williams senior forward Lindsey Vandergrift (Seattle, Wash./Seattle United FC) added the insurance goal for the Ephs in the 79th minute one-timing Bridget Gallagher's (Cranford, N.J./Matchfit Chelsea) cross into the back of the net, her second marker of the season.
Blair (9-7-0) turned in a game-high four saves, including three in the second half, while Williams College sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Van Wetter (Lakewood, Colo./Colorado Storm Copa) stopped three shots for her second shutout of the season.

Williams outshot Farmingdale State, 15-8, and held a 4-2 margin in corners.

The Ephs will play the Lyons tomorrow for the fifth time in program history at 1:30 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Christina Mirrione, '99 Stadium.

Wheaton College currently holds a 2-1-1 record against Williams College in the all-time series. Last season, the Ephs handed the Lyons a 1-0 loss in Norton, Mass. Both teams first matchup against each other dates back to 2002.
