Thompson Scores Two as Rams Top Panthers

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Freshman forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored the Rams first two goals of the day, as Farmingdale State (7-5, 2-1) topped Old Westbury, 3-0, in Skyline women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

Thompson opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, converting a pass from senior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.), to give the Rams a 1-0 lead, which stood until the halftime break.

In the second half, Thompson and Magee combined for their second score of the day at 50:29, giving Farmingdale the 2-0 edge. The third and final goal of the day came from freshman forward Meghan Cleary (East Meadow, N.Y.), who sent home a pass from senior midfielder Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.).

The Rams held the Panthers (4-8, 1-2 Skyline) to five shots for the day, as freshman goalkeeper Brianna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) made just two saves for her fourth shutout of the year.

Farmingdale State will now host Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m.
