Late Scores Lead Rams Past Scranton

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Leading 1-0 late in the second half, Farmingdale State added two goals in the final minutes to cap off the 3-0 non-conference victory over Scranton this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Farmingdale State (6-5) senior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.) broke the scoreless tie with a header goal off senior forward Theresa Martorano's (Commack, N.Y.) corner kick in the 30th minute. The Rams held Scranton (4-5-2) to one first half shot and had a 3-1 corner kick advantage over the Royals.

After a lightning delay with 15:13 left in the game, Farmingdale State responded with an unassisted goal by freshman forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) only 2:49 after the game stoppage. Three minutes later, the Rams added their final goal of the match as freshman midfielder Shannon Murphy (North Babylon, N.Y.) netted the pass from senior forward Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.).

Senior Stacey Rao (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and freshman Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) split time in goal recording one and five saves, respectively, while junior Kelsy McAnelly (West Chester, Penn.) made two saves in the loss.

Farmingdale State next will host Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference match on Wednesday, October 3rd at 4:00 p.m.
