Rams Remain Perfect in Skyline with Win over St. Joe’s

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team improved to a perfect 5-0 in the Skyline Conference after a 2-0 win over St. Joseph's this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams now hold an 11-2-2 overall record, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 7-6-1, 3-2 in conference play.

After a scoreless first 29 minutes of action, Rams' freshman defender Christine Campanello (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored on a rebound off the goalkeeper, which gave Farmingdale State a 1-0 advantage. The Rams outshot St. Joe's 10-2 in the first half and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

In the second half, the Rams increased their lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute as junior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.) scored off the corner kick by junior forward Jamie Smith (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.). Farmingdale State controlled the game as they held a 24-2 shot advantage and did not allow a shot in the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Michelle Gulino (East Setauket, N.Y.) made 11 saves in defeat for St. Joe's.

Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, October 15th at 1:00 p.m.
