Rams Roll Past NYU-Poly

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team scored five first half goals en route to an 8-0 Skyline Conference victory over NYU-Poly in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Rams improved to 7-1-2 overall, 1-0 in conference play, while NYU-Poly fell to 2-2 (0-1).

Farmingdale State junior forward Jamie Smith (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored the games first goal to put the Rams ahead 1-0 in the opening minutes. Junior forward Theresa Martorano (Commack, N.Y.) and senior forward Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y.) added goals in the 7th and 12th minute, giving Farmingdale State a 3-0 lead. Smith added her second score of the game 3:30 later, as the Rams went on top 4-0 15:30 into the game. Farmingdale's final goal of the first half was scored by junior forward Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) off the feed from freshman Sam Johrden (Deer Park, N.Y.).

In the second half, Martorano scored for the second time and freshmen Ashley Gregg (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Nikole Rocco (Center Moriches, N.Y.) each scored their first career goal.

The Rams did not allow the Fighting Blue Jays to attempt a shot throughout the entire game. NYU-Poly's goalkeeper Christa Pappalardo (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) made 17 saves in defeat.

Farmingdale State next will host Purchase in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, September 28th at 4:00 p.m.
