Farmingdale State – 2, Stevens - 1 (OT)

Farmingdale, N.Y. –

The Farmingdale State women's soccer team was victorious in overtime today, defeating visiting Stevens 2-1 in a non-conference game in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams now stand at 6-1-1 overall, while the Ducks fall to 4-3-1.

In a scoreless first half, the teams were even with five shots apiece. But the scoring was started in the 51st minute by Stevens sophomore midfielder Bridgette Barden (Redondo Beach, Calif.), off a cross in front from senior forward Kathleen Schuckers (Lincoln Park, N.J.).

Rams senior defender Katrina Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, N.Y.) would even the score at 1-1 on a penalty kick with 11:05 remaining to play in regulation. With two seconds remaining, Farmingdale State senior midfielder Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y.) launched a shot just over the crossbar, sending the game into overtime.

The Rams had a scoring opportunity in the first two minutes of overtime, but the shot was deflected wide by a Stevens defender. With under five minutes to play, freshman defender Andrea Kiefer (Centereach, N.Y.) headed a ball towards the goal, which trickled past a sliding goalkeeper and gave junior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.) the easy tap in for the win.

Farmingdale State senior goalkeeper Amanda Maass (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) posted three saves for the win, while Ducks senior goalkeeper Kaitlin McClymont (Corpus Christi, Texas) made four saves in defeat.

The Rams will host 14th ranked Ithaca next on Saturday, September 24th at 1:00 p.m. in another non-conference game.
