Strong First Half Leads Rams to Skyline Win

Farmingdale State - 4, Bard College - 0

Farmingdale, N.Y. - A four goal first half would be all the Rams needed, as they cruised to a 4-0 shutout over Skyline opponent, Bard College. The Rams improve to 6-1 overall, while the Raptors drop to 2-3 on the season.

Sophomore forward Melissia Elie (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) opened the scoring just 4:58 in, off a pass from freshman forward Sarah Golden (Greenport, N.Y./Greenport). Ten minutes later, Farmingdale State sophomore forward Jamie Smith (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem East) was successful on a penalty kick to give the Rams a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) increased Farmingdale's lead to 3-0 with an unassisted goal at the 21:40 mark. The final goal of the day would come a minute and a half later, as sophomore forward Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) netted a pass from junior defender Katrina Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches).

The Rams would not allow a shot in the second half, en route to victory in the first Skyline Conference game of the season, and stretching their conference undefeated streak to 15 games, dating back to November 2008.

Farmingdale State will now host Maritime College in another Skyline game on Thursday, September 23rd at 4:00 p.m.
