Farmingdale, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Melissia Elie (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) scored the games only goal in the 77th minute, leading Farmingdale State to a 1-0 non-conference win over Buffalo State. The Rams won both games in the Farmingdale State Labor Day Invitational and improved to 3-0 on the season. The Bengals dropped to 1-1 overall.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Maass (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) had five saves in the shutout, while sophomore goalie Virginia Porten (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) recorded nine saves for Buffalo State.

Farmingdale State will travel to Manhattanville College for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 8th at 7:00 p.m.

In the final game of the Tournament, Western Connecticut (1-1) defeated New England College (0-2-1) by a score of 9-0. The Colonials scored four goals in the first half and added five in the second en route to the 9-0 shutout victory. Western Connecticut held a commanding 39-1 shot advantage.

Sophomore midfielder Jessica Zingle (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) and junior forward Jillian Duran (Uncasville, Conn./Montville) each scored two goals for the Colonials.

Freshmen goalkeepers Alyssa Whitcomb (Littleton, Mass./Westford Academy) and Kassandra Flint (Sherwood, Ore./Sherwood) had six and eight saves respectively for New England College.
