FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Led by the second perfect game in the career of senior right-handed pitcher Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.), and just the fourth in program history, the Farmingdale State College softball team ran its winning streak to 19 games Friday morning, sweeping past Skyline Conference foe Yeshiva University by five-inning scores of 14-0 and 10-0.

With the doubleheader sweep, FSC (23-8, 15-1 Skyline) has now clinched a first-round bye in next week's 2023 Skyline Conference Softball Championship. The defending-champion Rams will open play in the double-elimination tourney on Thursday, May 11, with seeds and pairings to be determined after this weekend's regular-season conference play wraps up. The top-two seeds will be determined after results from FSC's home doubleheader on Sunday (noon start; Senior Day ceremonies to begin at 11:40 a.m.) against visiting and Skyline-leading Manhattanville College are finalized.

Stanya's second perfect game (previous: vs. Mount Saint Vincent, May 8, 2021) came in the opening contest against the visiting Maccabees (2-27, 0-16), and was the first since now-sophomore Ava Shorr (No. Babylon, N.Y.) turned the trick on April 26, 2022, against YU. Stanya registered 11 strikeouts in retiring all 15 Macs hitters, as 42 of her 50 pitches went for strikes.

Game 1

A total of 14 Rams reached base safely in support of Stanya, while 11 players scored runs in the opening contest. FSC sent 15 runners to the plate in a 10-run first inning to take control, before adding a pair of runs in both the third and fourth frames.

Junior right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and two RBI, while junior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) hit doubles in both of her plate appearances, scoring twice and driving in one. Freshman designated player Samantha Stolfi (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) drove in three runs, joining senior first baseman Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) with 2-for-2 efforts to go with one double apiece. Stanya helped herself at the dish, batting 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI, while Shorr and freshman Jenna Scheingold (E. Meadow, N.Y.) both went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI.

Game 2

Four runs in the bottom of the first, as well as three apiece in the second and third stanzas, by the home side supported Shorr, who moved to 11-4 in the circle with a complete-game one-hitter to go with 10 strikeouts. She faced two batters over the minimum, and tossed 47 of her 56 pitches for strikes.

Stolfi (2B, 3 RBI) and senior center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) both went 2-for-2 with two RBI in the nightcap, with Shorr helping her cause with a pair of RBI. Giliberti and Capuano both tallied a double and two runs scored for the Rams.

Senior Gia D'Andrea (Howard Beach, N.Y.) drove in freshman Lindsay Cahill (Shoreham, N.Y.) on a RBI grounder in the bottom of the third, before Giliberti came home in the next at-bat by freshman Deanna Ebert (Bay Shore, N.Y.). Scheingold drew a bases-loaded walk two batters later, scoring D'Andrea and rounding the home side's scoring.
