FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College softball team ran its winning streak to 15 games Wednesday night, as it picked up a pair of extra-inning, Skyline Conference victories over Mount Saint Mary College. The Rams (19-8, 12-0) used a three-run 10th inning to earn a 5-3 decision in the opening game over the Knights (15-17, 8-6), before a 10-run eighth stanza gave FSC a 12-2 triumph in the nightcap.

Game 1

Farmingdale State, batting as the away side in the twinbill, put up two runs in the top of the first inning when senior Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) brought home junior Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) on a sacrifice fly, before junior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

After the Knights knotted the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the contest to extra innings, the Rams plated three in the top of the 10th to take the lead for good. Giliberti drove home freshman Christina Rodriguez (Vineland, N.J.) on a one-out single to center, before coming home two batters later on Capuano's single down the first-base line to put FSC up 4-2. Senior center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) rounded out her side's scoring when Walker drove her home on a single to left field.

Capuano went 2-for-5 at the dish in the opener, while Giliberti scored twice and swiped three stolen bases. Walker drove in a pair of runs in support of sophomore righty Ava Shorr (North Babylon, N.Y.), who moved to 10-4 in the circle this year with a complete-game effort, scattering eight hits, two earned runs and two walks while striking out five Mount Saint Mary hitters.

Game 2

Giliberti accounted for the Rams' first two runs of the contest, coming across in the top of the third frame on Rivera's suicide squeeze, before scampering home three innings later on a wild pitch to double FSC's lead.

After Mount Saint Mary picked up single runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, Farmingdale State registered a 10-run top of the eighth inning while sending 15 batters to the plate to secure the twinbill sweep. Squeeze bunts in succession by Stanya, sophomore Alyssa Cowen (Garden City South, N.Y.) and Giliberti provided FSC its first three runs of the stretch.

Shorr went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, with Giliberti and Walker (2-for-5) scoring three and two runs, respectively. Freshman designated player Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 at the dish, as senior right-handed pitcher Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.) upped her record to 9-4 on the campaign with a complete-game eight-hitter with two strikeouts.

FSC will next travel to play Purchase College in a Skyline Conference doubleheader tomorrow, May 4th at 3:30 p.m.
