FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Junior outfielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) scored four runs while going 4-for-7 Saturday afternoon, while the Farmingdale State College softball team limited the College of Mount Saint Vincent to four hits in sweeping past the Dolphins in a Skyline Conference doubleheader by scores of 2-0 and 5-2.

Game 1

Senior righty Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.) only allowed a leadoff single in the bottom of the fifth inning by the Dolphins, facing one batter over the minimum while striking out 11 to move to 7-4 on the year.

Giliberti went 2-for-4 with both Rams runs in the opener, and opened the scoring in the top of the first inning after leading off with a single and coming home on a passed ball.

The junior then gave her side an insurance run in the top of the seventh, reaching on a two-out single before stealing second base. From there, junior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) drove Giliberti home with a single in the next at bat to give Stanya a cushion before she retired the side in the bottom of the frame to close things out.

Freshman Samantha Stolfi (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.), sophomore Ava Shorr (No. Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman Lindsay Cahill (Shoreham, N.Y.) each collected base hits for FSC.

Game 2

Farmingdale State (15-8, 7-1 Skyline) moved its winning streak to 11 games in the nightcap against CMSV (17-8, 6-2 Skyline), with Giliberti (2B, 3B, BB) scoring two runs and Capuano (2-for-4) and Shorr driving in two runs apiece at the dish. Shorr tossed a complete-game three-hitter with two runs allowed (one earned), fanning eight Dolphins en route to moving to 8-4 on the campaign.

After reaching on a ground-rule double to start the contest, Giliberti crossed the plate one batter later when Capuano registered a base hit. Shorr then helped herself before even tossing a pitch three batters later, as her single drove in Capuano and Stolfi to push FSC ahead by a 3-0 margin.

The Dolphins pulled back one run apiece in the bottom of the second and third stanzas, before Giliberti drove in sophomore Alyssa Cowen (Garden City South, N.Y.; 2-for-3) with a long triple in the top of the fourth to send the Rams back ahead by two. Giliberti (one-out single, stolen base) then scored her side's final run of the day with one away in the top of the seventh, when she was driven home on Capuano's second hit of the contest.

Head coach Liz Pennino's Farmingdale State squad is back in Skyline action Sunday, when it plays host to a noon twinbill against St. Joseph's University-Long Island.
