2013 Softball Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The softball team entered the Skyline Playoffs as the #2 seed and claimed their third consecutive Skyline Conference Title. The Rams traveled to Montclair State for the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. Farmingdale State fell to both Susquehanna and Roger Williams and finished the year with a 24-17 record.

Freshman catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) had a team-high .399 average and led the Rams in seven other offensive categories. Senior first baseman Jennifer Jarczynski (West Babylon, N.Y.) batted .353 and had a team-leading 32 runs batted in and was second with 48 hits, while senior third baseman Kristen Flint (Brentwood, N.Y.) batted .317 with seven stolen bases. Junior shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.) held a .364 batting average this season with nine doubles and an impressive .406 on base percentage. Sophomore center fielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) is second on the team in RBI's with 29 and has only committed four errors defensively this season.

Sophomore pitchers Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) anchored the Farmingdale State staff. Webb, the Skyline Tournament MVP, was 13-9 on the season with a 3.21 ERA, while striking out 103 batters in 133 innings pitched. Tedeschi held a 3.63 ERA and a 10-7 record this season.

Anderson was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and captured First Team honors, while Flint, Jarczynski and Mongiello were also named First Team All-Conference.

The Rams are graduating four seniors this year.
