Magoulas Sets School Record in Discus at Wolfie Invitational

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Farmingdale State sophomore Marina Magoulas (Islip, N.Y.) set the school record in the discus with a toss of 33.76m (110' 9") at the Division I Outdoor Track Stony Brook Wolfie Invitational on Saturday. At the meet, the men placed ninth, while the women finished in a tie for 10th place.

Magoulas recorded a sixth place finish out of 21 in the discus and was the top non-Division I competitor in the event. Freshman Iyana Alexandre (Ridge, N.Y.) notched the second best mark all-time at FSC in the discus with a distance of 32.55m (106' 9") and finished in ninth place overall. In the hammer, Magoulas took fifth out of 17 with a toss of 43.16m (141' 7").

Freshman Janine Santorelli (Babylon, N.Y.) placed eighth and moved to #10 on the FSC All-Time List in the javelin with a throw of 16.78m (55' 1"). In the 5000m, junior Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) finished sixth with a time of 19:38.00.

For the men, junior Joseph McKeon (Hyde Park, N.Y.) led the way with a runner-up finish in the javelin (46.08m / 151' 2"), while freshman Nicholas Kasin (Massapequa, N.Y.) (37.44m / 122' 10") took eighth in the same event.

Farmingdale State had four top-10 finishers in the hammer as Markhus Obas (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) (49.30m / 161' 9"), Blake Borghard (Northport, N.Y.) (42.51m / 139' 6"), Thomas Franks (Coram, N.Y.) (42.05m / 137' 11") and Griffin Young (West Islip, N.Y.) (38.30m / 125' 8") placed third, fifth, seventh and ninth, respectively. Obas' mark was a personal best and is now #4 all-time at FSC.

In the discus, Borghard earned a sixth place finish (39.54m / 129' 9"), while freshman Patrick Lynch (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) took ninth with a distance of 35.69m (117' 1"). Borghard also competed in the shot put (ninth place - 11.27m / 36" 11.75") and sophomore Stephen Honoré (Uniondale, N.Y.) notched a seventh place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.24m (40' 2").

The Rams next will travel to Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Penn Relays on April 25-27.
