Triple Jumpers Excel at Great Dane Classic

Manhattan, N.Y. - The men's indoor track team finished tied for 15th place out of 24 entered teams on Friday, January 19th in the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University of Albany at the 168 St. Armory in Manhattan, N.Y. The men's triple jumpers excelled in the meet with three Top-10 performances, while the team also added three more qualifiers for the ECAC Championships.

Freshman Kurt Johns-Harris triple jumped a personal best 13.97m (45'10") to place 4th in the event. Junior captain Reggie Routier followed Kurt in 5th place with a personal best 13.84m (45'5"). Kurt and Reggie now move to 6th and 9th, respectively, on the Farmingdale All-Time Top 10 list. Freshman Chris Herbst placed 7th in 13.18m (43'3") to qualify for the ECAC Championships.

Two more ECAC qualifiers for the Rams were freshman Kensely Norian (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) in the 200-meter with a time of 22.90, along with freshman Jermaine Carter (Rego Park, NY/Mt.St.Michael) in the 500-meter after a time of 107.36.

On the women's side, freshman Jessica Sarro (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead) and sophomore Cathryn McLean (Freeport, NY/Northport) were heat winners in the 200-meter. Sarro clocked in at 27.62 and McLean posted a 28.55 finish.

The next meet will take place on Saturday, January 27th, at the Wesleyan University Invitational in Middletown, Connecticut.
