Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team hosted Merchant Marine for a Skyline Conference game this afternoon and played to a 0-0 draw. FSC now holds a record of 2-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.

Just 5:15 in, senior midfielder Luke Kasulke (Seaford, N.Y.) nearly put the Rams ahead as his shot from 30 yards out hit the crossbar.

A little over six minutes later, USMMA (3-2-4, 0-0-3) freshman midfielder Drew Boukidis (Matthews, N.C.) was stopped on a diving save by FSC senior goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.).

On the ensuing Merchant Marine corner kick, Silva drew a foul to end the threat and give Farmingdale State possession.

In the 20th minute, Rams' senior forward Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.) received a pass near the box from junior defender Wilmer Dominguez (Huntington Station, N.Y.), but Mariners senior keeper Chase Miller (Boise, ID) made a diving save.

Only 19 seconds later, Miller made a save on a header from FSC senior forward Brandon Balcaceres (Farmingdale, N.Y.) as the game remained scoreless.

Neither team attempted another shot as the game headed into the halftime break, 0-0.

Early in the second half, Balcaceres was stopped twice by Miller before Silva made a save on a shot by USMMA's Clayton Ecalano (Pleasant Grove, UT).

With 15:37 remaining, Silva punched out an attempt by Billy Castoro (Garden City, N.Y.). The Rams picked up the ball and quickly rushed up the field with Kasulke sending one on net 26 seconds later.

FSC took the final shot on goal with only 2:48 left to play. Junior midfielder Vinny Terrone (Westbury, N.Y.) gathered a loose ball in the box and took a shot from five yards out that was halted by Miller.

Silva recorded four saves in the shutout, while Miller stopped seven shots in his clean sheet.

Balcaceres had a game-high three shots on goal.

Farmingdale State next will play Skyline opponent St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams will be the away team for that contest.
