FSC Drops First Game at TCNJ Classic to Host-School Lions

Ewing, N.J. - Farmingdale State traveled to The College of New Jersey for the first game of the TCNJ Men's Soccer Classic on Saturday evening and lost, 3-0. The Rams dropped to 0-2, while the Lions earned a victory in their season opener.

After trading shots in the first 10 minutes, TCNJ took control as they attempted eight unanswered shots, including one that caromed off the crossbar.

FSC senior goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.) made his fourth save of the game in the 27th minute before a foul in the box set up a penalty kick for the Lions.

Junior forward Luke Pascarella (Millstone, N.J.) buried the penalty shot at 27:01 to give The College of New Jersey the 1-0 advantage.

Just over eight minutes later, senior midfielder Alex Quezada (West Windsor, N.J.) came off the bench for the Lions and quickly set up freshman midfielder Massimo Rodio (River Edge, N.J.) for a goal to increase the lead to 2-0.

The College of New Jersey took the two-goal advantage into the second half and used a Daniel Grund (West Windsor, N.Y.) score in the 64th minute to go ahead, 3-0.

Farmingdale State was held without a shot over the final 26:03 as TCNJ went on for the 3-0 victory.

Silva finished with eight saves for FSC in the loss.

The Rams will next play Rutgers-Newark in the final game of the TCNJ Classic tomorrow, Sunday, September 4th at 5:30 p.m.
