Throggs Neck, N.Y. - In their final game of the regular season, the Farmingdale State men's soccer team traveled to Maritime College and ended in a tie, 2-2. The Rams finish the season 5-4-1 in the conference and have earned the #5 seed heading into the Skyline Conference Championship.

The Privateers (14-4-1, 7-2-1 Skyline) opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after sophomore midfielder Neil Dillon (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored off the cross in front by Anthony Palazolla (Huntington Station, N.Y.).

Just 10:55 later, Rams (9-7-1) sophomore midfielder Alex Castano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) knotted the game at 1-1 as he scored to the lower left corner of the net from 30 yards out.

FSC took a 2-1 advantage with only 6:24 left in the half as senior midfielder William Grajales (Cali, Colombia) gathered a loose ball in the box and shot it past Maritime freshman goalkeeper Alec Wurtz (Huntington Station, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State held a 6-3 shot advantage in the first half as they led 2-1 at the break.

The game remained 2-1 until the 74th minute when Privateers senior midfielder Parker Gallt (Las Vegas, N.Y.) scored to tie the game.

Over the remainder of the second half, each team tallied three shots but were unable to score as the game went into overtime.

Just 1:23 into the first OT, FSC junior midfielder Alec Chapoteau (Wantagh, N.Y.) sent a corner kick for a Grajales shot that went just wide of the net. Maritime answered with a pair of shots on goal but Rams senior goalkeeper Scott Flores (Commack, N.Y.) stopped both as the game headed into the second OT.

In the final 10 minutes, neither team would register a shot as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Flores made five saves for Farmingdale State, while Wurtz had four.

The fifth seeded Rams next travel to #4 Old Westbury for the first round of the playoffs on Sunday, October 28th at 1:00 p.m.
