Ramirez Propels Rams to Conference Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Sebastian Ramirez (Central Islip, N.Y.) led the Farmingdale State men's soccer team to a 3-0 Skyline victory today over The Sage Colleges. The Rams improved to 7-6-1, 4-2-1 in conference play, while the Gators suffer their first conference loss to drop to 8-3-2 overall, 4-1-1 in the Skyline.

In the first half, Ramirez opened the scoring at 12:56 off a corner kick from J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) to give Farmingdale State a 1-0 lead. Shots on goal were even at the half 3-3.

Ramirez sent in a corner kick in the 75th minute, which was deflected off a Sage defender, and the Rams grabbed a 2-0 lead on an own goal. With 7:40 remaining in regulation, Ramirez sent in another corner kick which was punched out by the Sage goalkeeper, before sophomore midfielder John Kender (Farmingdale, N.Y.) sent the rebound home for the 3-0 advantage for Farmingdale State.

Junior goalkeeper Kevin Gordillo (Flushing, N.Y.) made four saves for the Rams in his third shutout of the season.

Farmingdale State will next travel to Stockton College tomorrow, October 17th, in a non-conference game at 2:00 p.m.
