Rams in First Place After Victory at St. Joe's

Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team traveled to St. Joseph's (LI) this evening and earned a 3-2 victory. The Rams are now 3-0 in conference play and in first place.

Freshman forward Richard Mastrangelo III (Dix Hills, N.Y.) gave Farmingdale State (6-3, 3-0) an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal only 10:29 into the game.

With 22:18 remaining in the first half, the Rams extended their advantage to 2-0 on a J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) goal.

The Rams held St. Joe's (2-7-1, 1-1-1) scoreless on only five first half shots as they took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Golden Eagles cut the deficit in half in the 65th minute as senior midfielder Alex Guadagno (South Setuaket, N.Y.) scored off the pass from Justin Heredia (Patchogue, N.Y.).

With less than 11 minutes to play, Mastrangelo III tallied his second goal of the contest to bring the Farmingdale State lead back to two, 3-1.

St. Joe's added a late score but the Rams earned the 3-2 road victory.

Junior goalkeeper Kevin Gordillo (Flushing, N.Y.) stopped four shots for FSC, while junior Avery Gomez (Bay Shore, N.Y.) had three saves in the loss.

Farmingdale State next will host Maritime in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, October 3rd at noon.
