Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #8

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #8 on Monday, October 22, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Men's Golf Update

The Rams captured their fifth consecutive Skyline Conference Championship this past weekend at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course. Farmingdale State defeated runner-up The Sage Colleges by 43 strokes.

Junior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) earned individual medalist honors after a two-day total of 144, including a school record 68 in the final round. Sophomore Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) placed second (154), junior Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y.) took third (155) and freshman Chris Brosi (Stony Brook, N.Y.) finished in fourth place (157) overall.

Larkin, Pollock, Kelly and Brosi were named First Team All-Skyline, while freshman Scott Sessions (Pleasantille, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team. Larkin earned Player of the Year honors and Brosi was named Rookie of the Year.

The Rams received the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Golf Championships, which will take place May 14-17 at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

Men's Soccer Update (8-9-1, 6-3 Skyline) - Full Report

Men's soccer picked up a pair of Skyline wins defeating Maritime and The Sage Colleges in two road matches.

Junior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (East Northport, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Viteritti recorded a pair of shutouts while notching 10 saves as Farmingdale State posted victories over Maritime (1-0) and Sage (2-0). Viteritti registered four saves against Maritime and six versus the Gators. He leads the conference in shutouts (eight) and save percentage (.871).

Freshman midfielder Victor Romero (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Honor Roll as he scored the game-winning goal vs. Maritime and added a goal in the Rams’ 2-0 win over Sage.

This week the men's soccer team will await their seed for the upcoming playoffs. The First Round games are Saturday, October 27th.

Women's Volleyball Update (10-9, 4-3 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted a 1-2 record this week picking up a 3-1 win over Old Westbury on senior night before falling to both Sage and Mount Saint Mary on Saturday.

Freshman Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors. Pisciotta recorded at least 20 assists in all three of Farmingdale State’s matches en route to earning her third Rookie of the Week honor. She averaged 8.45 assists and 2.0 digs over 11 sets with a .333 attacking percentage. Pisciotta tallied 37 assists vs. Old Westbury and 34 against Mount Saint Mary.

Sophomore Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y) led the team with 44 kills and eight service aces and was named to the Skyline Honor Roll.

This week the Rams travel to St. Joe's on Wednesday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. and then will play Vasser (11:00 a.m.) and Misericordia (1:00 p.m.) in the Vassar Tri-Match on Saturday, October 27th.

Women's Soccer Update (11-7, 6-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's soccer team posted an 11-0 win over Maritime and a 4-0 win on senior day versus Sage. Stacey Rao (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), Theresa Martorano (Commack, N.Y.), Jillian Lasota (Massapequa, N.Y.), Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.), Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.) and Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) were honored as they played in their final regular season home game.

Martorano and freshman forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, NY) were each named to the Skyline Honor Roll.

The Rams enter the playoffs as the #2 seed and will host the winner of Purchase/St. Joseph's on Wednesday, October 31st.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

The men's cross country finished in 8th place, while the women's team finished 10th at the St. Joseph's College Invitational held at Sunken Meadow State Park.

Sophomore William Frederic (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Honor Roll after his 6th place finish with a time of 29:19.26.

This week the Rams will compete in the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday, October 28th at Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh, N.Y.

Women's Tennis Update (7-4, 4-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams played one match and picked up a 6-3 win on the road at Purchase. Sophomore Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) won both her singles and doubles matches and was named to the Conference Honor Roll.

This week will feature Senior Day for two of our student-athletes on Tuesday, October 23rd at 5:00 p.m. in a home match versus NYU-Poly. Farmingdale State earned the #2 seed for the playoffs and will host #3 St. Joseph's in the semifinals on Wednesday, October 24th.
