Nine Minutes of Scoring Pushes Rams Over Panthers

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Four goals in a nine minute span gave the Farmingdale State men's soccer team a 4-0 victory over Purchase College (5-6-1, 2-4) today in a Skyline Conference game. The Rams improved to 6-7-1 overall, 4-2 in conference play.

Neither team scored in the first half, while Purchase held a 5-4 shot advantage, but Farmingdale State's junior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (East Northport, N.Y.) made four saves to keep the game scoreless.

In the second, freshman midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) got the Rams on the board in the 47th minute with an unassisted goal. Senior defender Brian Anderson (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored on a penalty kick in the 49th minute for a 2-0 lead.

Freshman forward Orlandy Charleston (Rosedale, N.Y.) scored in the 52nd minute for the 3-0 advantage and the final goal came at 55:53 with Famularo's second goal of the day, assisted by junior midfielder Joe Lipsky (Plainview, N.Y.).

Viteritti finished with seven saves for his sixth shutout of the season.

Farmingdale State will now host NYU-Poly on Saturday, October 13th at 1:00 p.m. The game will mark last regular season home game for Brian Anderson, Ricky Meschkow, and Jose Ipince.
