Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #5

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #5 on Monday, October 1, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Men's Soccer Update (5-5-1, 3-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team picked up a pair of Skyline wins this week as they defeated St. Joe's 3-0 and notched a 7-0 victory against Mount Saint Vincent.

Freshman midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Famularo scored a pair of goals on five shots as Farmingdale State remained undefeated in league play. He notched the game-winning tally versus St. Joseph's which was his second game-winning goal of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (East Northport, N.Y.) made six saves as he earned two shutouts for the Rams. Viteritti has now recorded a shutout in four consecutive games.

This week the team travels to Old Westbury on Tuesday, October 2nd at 4:00 p.m. and Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, October 6th at noon.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team captured their Skyline Invitational on Friday, September 28th at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course.

The Rams shot a team-total of 295 and finished 15 strokes ahead of runner-up St. Joseph's. Junior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) and sophomore Matt Pollock (East Northport, N.Y.) each shot rounds of 73 for the Rams. Larkin was the individual medalist after winning the first playoff hole with a birdie.

This week the team will travel to Utica, N.Y. for the Hamilton College Fall Invitational on Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th.

Women's Tennis Update (5-2, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's tennis team picked up victories over CCNY (9-0) and Sage (5-4) this week.

Sophomore Alex Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Bentz posted a 2-0 mark at No. 2 singles and won a pair of matches at No. 2 doubles. She recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win versus Sage and a 6-3, 6-1 win against CCNY.

This week the women's tennis team will host a pair of Skyline matches: St. Joe's on Wednesday, October 3rd at 4:00 p.m. and Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, October 6th at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball Update (6-5, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's volleyball team fell in two matches this weekend in the Hunter Tri-Match. They fell 3-0 to host Hunter College, before falling to Skyline opponent Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0.

This weekend the Rams are scheduled to play at the Mount Saint Vincent Skyline Play Date on Saturday, October 6th against Mount Saint Vincent and Yeshiva, but the match may be moved to Sunday, October 28th. Stay tuned.

Women's Soccer Update (6-5, 1-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The women’s soccer team opened the week with a 1-0 loss to St. Joe’s, before rebounding with two shutout victories over the weekend. They defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0 on Saturday and Scranton, 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Named to the Skyline Honor Roll this week were: senior Theresa Martorano (Commack, N.Y.), who had a goal and an assist at Mount Saint Vincent and added an assist in a 3-0 win Scranton, along with freshman Shannon Murphy (North Babylon, N.Y.), who added four points on the week.

The Rams host two conference games this week: Old Westbury on Wednesday, October 3 at 4:00 p.m. and Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

The men's and women's cross country teams both finished in 8th place at the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invitational on Saturday, September 29th. The Rams were led by sophomore William Frederic and junior Melissa Bonilla in the race.

Farmingdale State will next run on October 14 at the St. John's Fall Cross Country Festival at Cunningham Park in Queens, N.Y.
