Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #3

- Sickles named women's tennis Player of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #3 on Monday, September 17, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (3-1, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's tennis team posted an impressive 3-0 record this week. The Rams defeated Skyline opponent Yeshiva and picked up non-conference wins against Baruch and Staten Island.

Sophomore Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) enjoyed a 3-0 mark at No. 1 singles as well as a 3-0 record at No. 1 doubles this week. She notched a 6-1, 6-1 victory versus Staten Island and did not lose a game (6-0, 6-0) against Yeshiva. Sickles was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week.

Sophomore Alex Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) also was a perfect 3-0 in both singles and doubles matches.

This week the women's tennis team will host Oneonta State in a non-conference match on Saturday, September 22nd at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team won the 8-team Golden Eagle Invitational held at Island Hills Golf Club in Sayville, N.Y. The Rams shot a team total of 294 and finished 7 strokes ahead of runner-up Nassau CC. Junior Adam Larkin finished in 2nd place after shooting a round of even par.

This week the team travels to Long Island National Golf Club for the 18-team Dowling College Shootout on Friday-Saturday, September 21st and 22nd.

Women's Volleyball Update (4-3, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women’s volleyball team won three out of four matches at the Jay Street Challenge hosted by NYU-Poly. The Rams fell 3-0 to Montclair State and shutout Sarah Lawrence on Saturday. Farmingdale State picked up a pair of 3-0 victories against both York (N.Y.) and NYU-Poly on Sunday.

They will host their Skyline Play Date on Saturday, September 22nd with Maritime at 10:00 a.m. and Purchase at noon.

Women's Soccer Update (3-3, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams went 1-1 this week, defeating Western Connecticut 1-0 and falling to Cortland in double OT, 3-2.

Senior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.) scored the game-winner for Farmingdale State vs. West Conn, while freshman goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) recorded her second shutout of the year. They were both named to the Skyline Honor Roll.

This week features 3 non-conference games: Stevens on Tuesday, Sept. 18, NYU on Thursday, Sept. 20th and a home game vs. Manhattanville on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Soccer Update (3-5, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men’s soccer team picked up their first Skyline win of the year as they defeated Yeshiva 5-0, before falling to Staten Island this weekend 4-1. The Rams also picked up a 4-0 non-conference win over York (N.Y.) on Monday.

This week they travel to Albertus Magnus on Sunday, September 23rd for a match at 2:00 p.m.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Brookville, N.Y. to run in the C.W. Post Invitational. The Rams competed against nine teams from Division I and II and the men finished in 15th place.

After a week hiatus, Farmingdale State will run at the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational held at Chadwich Lake Park in Newburgh, N.Y. on Saturday, September 29th.
