Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #2

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #2 on Monday, September 10, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team finished in 2nd place in the Tim Brown Invitational at Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The Rams broke a school record on day two, posting a team score of 292. Junior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) led the team with a 4th place finish individually.

Farmingdale State will play in the St. Joseph’s Golden Eagle Invitational on Friday, Sept. 14th at Island Hills Country Club in Sayville, N.Y.

Women's Soccer Update (2-2, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams went 1-1 this week, first traveling to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to defeat Skidmore 1-0. Senior forward Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y.) scored the game-winner for Farmingdale State, moving her into 3rd place All-Time at FSC for career goals (27) and career game-winners (6).

Freshman goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) was named the Skyline Conference Co-Rookie of the Week after posting 23 saves. She saved 10 shots against Skidmore for her first collegiate shutout, before stopping a career-high 13 shots on goal in the 1-0 double overtime loss to Cal Lutheran.

This week they travel to face Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Cortland on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Soccer Update (1-4, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men’s soccer team went 1-2 this week, grabbing their first win of the year in a double overtime victory at home on Sunday afternoon. They defeated Potsdam 1-0 with 1:01 remaining in the second OT period. Freshman midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) scored the game-winner, his first collegiate goal, while senior goalkeeper Ricky Meschkow (Plainview, N.Y.) made eight saves for his first shutout of the season. They were both named to the Conference Honor Roll for their play this week.

The men host Yeshiva University on Wednesday, Sept. 12th at 4:00 p.m. and travel to face Staten Island on Saturday, Sept. 15th at 3:00 p.m.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

The men's and women's cross country teams both finished in 7th place in Hofstra’s Walter “Brick” Stone Run on Saturday afternoon, held at Bethpage State Park. The men were led by freshman Sean Hall (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) in 28th place of 66 Division II, III and JUCO runners, while the women were led by junior Melissa Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) in 28th place of 65 runners.

They will compete next in the C.W. Post Invitational in Brookville, N.Y.

Women's Tennis Update (0-1, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's tennis team opened up the 2012 season against Hunter College on Friday, September 7, but fell 6-3 in the match. Senior Laura Earlie (Moriches, N.Y.) was named to the Conference Honor Roll after posting 2-out-of-3 wins in the match, including wins at #4 singles and #2 doubles.

The Rams will host Yeshiva on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 8:00 p.m., Baruch on Friday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. and Staten Island on Saturday, Sept. 15th at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball Update (1-2, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Farmingdale State women’s volleyball team did not compete this week, but will return to action on Saturday-Sunday, September 15-16, when they travel to NYU-Poly to play in the Jay Street Challenge.

They will face Montclair State and Sarah Lawrence on Saturday night, before facing York (N.Y.) and NYU-Poly on Sunday.
