New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #1 on Tuesday, September 4, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Soccer Update - Full Report

The Farmingdale State women's soccer team went 1-1 this past weekend as they hosted the 4th Annual Rams Classic. This year included teams such as Western Connecticut, Buffalo State, Geneseo, Salisbury (Md.) and Salve Regina (R.I.).

In the season-opener on Friday afternoon, Farmingdale State defeated Buffalo State, 3-1, behind two goals and one assist from freshman forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.). Thompson received Conference Rookie of the Week honors for her play this weekend. Senior midfielder Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.) scored the game-winner for the Rams, and was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll.

FSC fell to Salve Regina, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, behind a nine save effort from the goalkeeping tandem of senior Stacey Rao (Ronkonkoma, N.Y. - 6 saves) and freshman Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo. - 3 saves).

Next up for Farmingdale State is a game at Skidmore on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m., before a home match on Sunday against Cal-Lutheran at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball Update - Full Report

The Rams women's volleyball team went 1-2 in their season-opening tournament, the Kings Point Invitational on Friday-Saturday. They defeated the College of New Rochelle on Friday, 3-1, before falling to Rutgers-Newark (3-1) and Merchant Marine (3-0) on Saturday.

Freshman setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week after posting double-digits in assists in each match this weekend. She had 27 assists and 7 digs vs. New Rochelle, before posting a career-high 36 assists in the 3-1 loss to Rutgers-Newark.

Sophomore Sarah Palladino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the team overall with 45 kills, 35 digs and a .252 attack percentage. She tied her career-high of 13 digs vs. New Rochelle, before posting a career-high 20 kills against Rutgers-Newark. Palladino was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll.

Farmingdale State has a break until September 15, when they travel to NYU-Poly to play in the Jay Street Challenge.

Men's Soccer Update - Full Report

The Farmingdale State men's soccer team opened the season on Friday night at Scranton, falling 4-0. The Rams scored the first goal of the year on Saturday afternoon at King's (Pa.) to take a 1-0 early lead in the game, but fell 6-1 and now stand at 0-2 overall.

The Rams are now on a 4-game homestand, hosting Brooklyn College on Thursday, September 6 at 4:00 p.m.; Plattsburgh State on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m.; Potsdam State on Sunday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m.; and opening their conference schedule against Yeshiva on Wednesday, September 12 at 4:00 p.m.

Women's Tennis Update - Full Report

The women's tennis team will open up their 2012 season at home this Friday, September 7 at 3:30 p.m. against Hunter College.

On Saturday, the Rams travel to York (N.Y.) for a non-conference game at 12:00 p.m. and return for a 4-game homestand next week.

 Cross Country Update - Full Report

The men's and women's cross country team start up this weekend at the Hofstra Invitational, held at Bethpage State Park.

Next weekend (September 15), they will run in the C.W. Post Invitational in Brookville, N.Y.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team opens up this weekend, September 8-9, at the Tim Brown Invitational at Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The Rams will look to make a 5th straight trip to the NCAA Championships this year.
