Dettori Leads Rams Past Maritime

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Freshman forward Joseph Dettori (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored two second half goals for Farmingdale State as the Rams shutout Maritime, 2-0, this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y.

In the first half Maritime (7-4-2, 3-2 Skyline) controlled play as they held a 14-4 shot advantage. Maritime's best scoring opportunity came with 5:21 remaining in the half as senior midfielder Tom Federico (Islip, N.Y.) fired a shot from the top of the box that hit the left post. Two minutes later, Privateers' freshman forward Logan Becker (Garden City, N.Y.) narrowly missed a goal with a header in front.

Dettori broke the scoreless tie with a shot from the top of the box in the 62nd minute. Dettori scored his second goal of the contest off a missed shot that hit the cross bar, capping of a 2-0 victory for Farmingdale State (3-8, 2-2 Skyline).

Farmingdale State freshman goalkeeper Michael Valverde (Huntington, N.Y.) made seven saves in the win, while junior Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y.) recorded six saves for Maritime.

The Rams next will host The Sage Colleges in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, October 8th at 1:00 p.m.
