Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team dropped their non-conference season opener today with a 3-0 loss to Methodist University. The Rams (0-1) managed just one shot on goal as the Monarchs (1-0-1) controlled play throughout and recorded their first victory of the year.

Methodist senior forward Darren Wilson (Spring Lake, N.C.) scored ten minutes into the game on a cross in front for the one goal advantage, before sophomore forward Eric McGinnis (Harrisburg, Pa.) deflected a goal kick into the Farmingdale goal for a 2-0 lead. McGinnis scored the third and final goal as well, dribbling through the middle of the field and launching a shot to the left side past a diving goalie.

Rams freshman goalkeeper Matthew Ward (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made seven saves in defeat.

The Rams will now travel to face Brooklyn College on Wednesday, September 8 at 4:00 p.m.
