Farmingdale State - 80, Maritime - 50


Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team improved to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the Skyline Conference after earning an 80-50 conference win at Maritime. The Privateers fell to 1-8, 0-4 in Skyline play.

Trailing 19-18 midway through the first half, a 17-3 run by the Rams put Farmingdale State ahead 36-21 with 1:46 remaining. The Rams would take a 40-23 lead into the break as they were led by senior guard Ryan Davis (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore forward P.J. Page (Copiague, N.Y.) who each had 10 points.

Farmingdale outscored Maritime 14-3 over the first seven minutes of the second half to extend their lead to 54-26. The Privateers were held to only five points in the last six minutes of action as the Rams picked up the 80-50 conference victory.

Senior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Page had 12 points. Davis recorded a team-leading six assists and scored 10 points.

Maritime was led by freshman guard Kevin Blohm (Staten Island, N.Y.) who tallied 17 points, while senior guard Ron Bethea (Harlem, N.Y.) had 16 points and four boards.

Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Mary in a Skyline game on Monday, January 14th at 8:00 p.m.
