FSC Spring Athletics Update #3

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its latest weekly reports Tuesday morning, and three Farmingdale State College student-athletes garnered weekly honors in their respective sports.

Baseball (4-4) | Skyline Report

The Rams are off to a 3-2 start in their stint at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, having swept Concordia-Moorhead and knocked off Northland while dropping a twinbill to Minnesota-Morris thus far.

Sophomore middle infielder Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) was named the Skyline's Player of the Week, as the FSC newcomer registered an 8-for-10 week at the dish with a homer, five runs and four RBI through weekend action. Another Farmingdale State newcomer, left-handed freshman relief pitcher Michael Camardi (Syosset, N.Y.), picked up a weekly honor roll citation after collecting a seven-out save with four strikeouts in Saturday's opening victory against Concordia-Moorhead.

RussMatt play wraps up for head coach Keith Osik's squad with a 10:45 a.m. Tuesday contest versus Oneonta, before an 11 a.m. tilt Wednesday against 13th-ranked Denison (Ohio).

Men's Lacrosse (4-1) | Skyline Report

FSC went 2-for-2 last week, scoring a 26-7 decision over Anna Maria on Tuesday night before starting its stint in Davenport, Fla., with a 13-9 triumph Sunday versus Lasell.

Junior attackman Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) was selected as the Skyline's Offensive Player of the Week after an 11-point (5g, 6a) stretch, with nine of his points coming in the two contests first quarters combined.

Sophomore defender Christian Lembo (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was named to the conference's weekly honor roll after posting career-highs of five caused turnovers and seven ground balls against Lasell, while freshman attacker JP Boreshesky (Nesconset, N.Y.) earned similar praise after a six-point week (3g, 3a) in which he registered his first collegiate hat trick versus Anna Maria.

Head coach Sean Chamberlain's Rams wrap up play in Davenport Thursday at noon against Eastern Connecticut, before returning home to play host to Russell Sage on Sunday at noon.

Softball (1-2) | Skyline Report

Farmingdale State opened its season in Kissimmee, Fla., at The Spring Games on Sunday, and thus far have earned a victory over Kenyon (Ohio) before falling to regional mainstay Amherst and Meredith (N.C.).

Freshman first baseman Samantha Stolfi (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) is off to a red-hot start to her collegiate career, registering 2-for-3 performances in each of the Rams' first three contests and earning Rookie of the Week accolades from the Skyline.

Six more games at The Spring Games await head coach Liz Pennino's FSC team, including doubleheaders on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The team will play North Park (Ill.) Tuesday at 2 p.m., followed by a 4:30 contest versus Southern Maine. The last game of the Rams' trip features a 2 p.m. Saturday first pitch against preseason No. 15 Tufts.

Women's Lacrosse (1-3) | Skyline Report

FSC notched its first win of the campaign in overtime Wednesday against Ramapo in its second extra-time game in as many outings to start the season, before falling Saturday at No. 3 TCNJ and Monday to RIT in Clearwater, Fla.

Against Ramapo, junior attacker Nicole Pontecorvo (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had a five-point evening, and was named to the Skyline's weekly honor roll after scoring the golden goal two minutes into the extra session of the 12-11 triumph.

Head coach Erin Calkins and the Rams conclude play in Clearwater on Thursday afternoon with a 10 a.m. opening draw against Curry (Mass.).

Men's Tennis (1-1)

The Adam Waterhouse-coached Rams kick off their spring schedule at home next Tuesday (March 21), when Baruch visits FSC for a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
