FSC Winter Athletics Update #1

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its first men's and women's basketball weekly reports of the 2022-23 season Tuesday morning, and one Farmingdale State College student-athlete was cited on a weekly honor roll.

Women's Basketball (0-3) | Skyline Report

The Rams played three contests over its first week of the season, including road games in New York at Brooklyn College and John Jay, as well as Saturday's home opener versus Albertus Magnus.

Junior forward Layla Mendoza (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline's weekly honor roll, as she averaged 17.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game -- including a 28-point outing on 10-of-22 shooting to go with seven rebounds and two blocks against Albertus Magnus.

Head coach Mark Dellecave's FSC team plays host to Medgar Evers Wednesday night at 6 p.m., before opening Skyline Conference play Saturday at Sarah Lawrence (noon tip-off).

Men's Basketball (1-1) | Skyline report

Farmingdale State opened its season Tuesday night at NYU, before gutting out a 74-68, overtime victory Saturday in its home opener against Ramapo College.

Senior forward Tre Riggins (Baldwin, N.Y.) led the Rams to the victory over the Roadrunners, scoring eight of FSC's 13 points in the overtime period.

Head coach Brendan Twomey's Rams travel to Manhattan on Saturday night, when they lift the lid on their Skyline slate in an 8:30 p.m. tip-off at Yeshiva University.
