Skyline Conference Fall Preseason Polls Released; Rams Teams Chosen at Top of Three Tallies

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its seven fall preseason coaches polls Friday afternoon, and three Farmingdale State College squads have been selected to finish at the top of the standings.

FSC's defending Skyline champion women's soccer and golf sides were picked to repeat in their respective polls, while the women's tennis team finished the voting tied for the top spot with Manhattanville College. All seven Rams fall teams placed in the top-five in the balloting, including six teams in the top-three.

Men's Cross Country

The United States Merchant Marine Academy was selected to repeat at the top of the ledger in voting by the conference's 12 head coaches. SUNY Maritime College placed second in the voting, and was followed by head coach Daniela Georgieva's Rams in the No. 3 slot. The 2022 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships will take place Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y.

Golf

Head coach Ryan Williams's Rams have won two-consecutive Skyline titles and a conference-record 13 crowns overall, and were chosen in voting by the eight head golf coaches to repeat in the Oct. 23-24 (Sun.-Mon.), 2022 Skyline Conference Championship at Bethpage State Park's Red Course.

Men's Soccer

Head coach Chuck Schimpf's FSC side slots into the poll in the No. 5 position, after a 2021 campaign in which the Rams checked in with the No. 3 seed in the Skyline Championship. This season's six-team conference tourney will take place with first-round games on Oct. 29, semifinals on Nov. 2 and the championship final on Nov. 5.

Last season's championship finalists, Manhattanville College and College of Mount Saint Vincent, ranked Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in the voting, with Mount Saint Mary College and USMMA tying for the No. 3 spot on the ledger.

Farmingdale State, led by long-time bench boss Chris Roche, sits atop the preseason poll after winning its sixth-consecutive title in 2021 -- and the Rams' conference-record 14th championship overall. Like the men's championship, this season's six-team conference tourney will take place with first-round games on Oct. 29, semifinals on Nov. 2 and the championship final on Nov. 5.

Women's Tennis

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams are tied atop the voting of the seven head coaches with Manhattanville College, after FSC registered an undefeated regular season last fall. The four-team Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship will commence with semifinals play on Oct. 19, with the championship final scheduled for Oct 23.
