FSC Athletics Fall Update #8

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its eighth fall weekly report on Monday, October 25th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics. 

Women's Soccer Update (12-7, 9-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State won all three of their matches last week. The Rams defeated Purchase and Yeshiva by a score of 9-0 before picking up a 4-0 win over Old Westbury.

Junior forward Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) was tabbed the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals over a stretch of 127 minutes played. She scored in the 25th minute versus Purchase before scoring twice in the win against Yeshiva.

Sophomore defender Taylor Berry (Glen Head, N.Y.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after anchoring the Rams' defense to a trio of clean sheets in Skyline action and netting goals against Purchase and Old Westbury in the process.

This week, the women's soccer team will play host to Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday @ 6:00 p.m. on Senior Night.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (13-9, 8-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State earned three shutout wins last week against Old Westbury, Sarah Lawrence and Ramapo.

Junior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y) was named the Libero of the Week, while freshman middle blocker Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors. 

Pozo averaged 5.0 digs per set for the Rams during their 3-0 stretch (2-0 Skyline), posting a .970 serve receive percentage in the process. She passed 10-plus digs over all three sweeps, including 20 on Saturday against Ramapo and 15 on Wednesday versus Sarah Lawrence.

Ricketts hit .371 (38-12-70) last week, averaging 4.22 kills per set during the stretch. She put down 15 and 14 kills against Sarah Lawrence (Wed.) and Old Westbury (Mon.), respectively.

FSC will finish up their regular season schedule with two conference matches: Tuesday vs. Yeshiva @ 7:00 p.m. and Thursday at Maritime @ 6:00 p.m.

 

Men's Soccer Update (9-5-1, 7-2-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team defeated Purchase, 5-0, and Yeshiva, 2-1, last week to improve to 7-2-1 in the Skyline Conference.

Senior defender Anthony Machado (Carle Place, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He anchored a Rams defense that allowed just one goal over the two conference victories. Machado also scored the opening goal on Sunday in the victory at Yeshiva.

This week, FSC will host Maritime College for a conference game on Tuesday @ 6:00 p.m. on Senior Night.
