FSC Athletics Fall Update #7

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its seventh fall weekly report on Tuesday, October 19th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics. 

Men's Golf Update

The Farmingdale State men's golf team won the Skyline Conference Championship on Monday for the 13th time in program history at the Bethpage State Park - Blue Course. The Rams shot a final round of 319 for a two-day total of 632 and a 13-stroke victory over runner-up Manhattanville.

FSC's Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Iguchi recorded a two-day total of 151 (75-76) to claim the individual title by one stroke.

Freshman Liam Miller (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) (7th place), who is in his first season of collegiate golf, carded rounds of 84 and 80 to be named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year.

With the victory, the Rams have earned the conference's automatic bid into the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida from May 10th-13th.

 

Women's Tennis Update (10-3, 6-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In their final two matches of the regular season, the women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory over Lehman and a 7-2 win versus St. Joseph's-Long Island.

Freshman Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive time as she went 3-0 in top-flight play, including a 2-0 mark at #1 doubles. She lost a combined two games in doubles play against Lehman and St. Joseph's-Long Island. Hoffman also won in singles play against the Golden Eagles by set scores of 6-0 and 6-0.

The Rams have clinched the #1 seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs and will host #4 St. Joseph's-Long Island for a semifinals match on Wednesday @ 4:00 p.m.

 

Women's Soccer Update (9-7, 6-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State played four games last week and went 2-2. The Rams defeated conference opponents Sarah Lawrence, 2-0, and Manhattanville, 1-0, to improve to 6-0 in the Skyline.

Freshman goalkeeper Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. Kensell posted 11 saves (.846 save pct.), two Skyline clean sheets and a goals-against average of 0.63 in three matches. She made six saves to start the week in a double-overtime loss at #24 Western Connecticut. Kensell added a combined five stops in a pair of Skyline shutouts against Sarah Lawrence and Manhattanville.

FSC will play three Skyline matches this week: Tuesday vs. Purchase @ 4:00 p.m., Thursday at Yeshiva (@ Farmingdale State) @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at Old Westbury (@ Farmingdale State) @ 11:00 a.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Men's Full Report  Women's Full Report

Farmingdale State competed at the SJC Invitational on Saturday at Sunken Meadow State Park. Both the men and women came in 10th place.

Sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) was named to the Runner of the Week honor roll after leading the women with a 20th place finish in 21:47.30.

Junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Runner of the Week honor roll for the men as he came in 17th at the SJC Invite in a time of 30:06.86.

Farmingdale State next will compete at the Skyline Conference Championship at the at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. on Sunday, October 24th.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (11-9, 7-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Women's Volleyball defeated St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 3-0, and St. Joseph's-Long Island, 3-2, last week.

After sweeping Old Westbury, 3-0, on Monday, Farmingdale State plays two more home matches this week: Wednesday vs. Sarah Lawrence @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Ramapo @ 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day.

 

Men's Soccer Update (7-5-1, 5-2-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team fell to Skyline opponents Manhattanville, 2-0, and Mount Saint Vincent, 2-1, last week.

This week, Farmingdale State will play two Skyline road games: Wednesday at Purchase @ 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at Yeshiva @ 1:00 p.m.
