FSC Athletics Fall Update #5

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its fifth fall weekly report on Monday, October 4th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Men's Soccer Update (6-3, 4-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team earned two Skyline Conference victories last week. The Rams defeated Merchant Marine, 2-0, and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 2-0.

FSC senior defender Anthony Machado (Carle Place, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week as the center back helped the Rams to a pair of clean-sheet triumphs.

Freshman forward Erick Maldonado (Brentwood, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors after his crucial play in the win at Merchant Marine. Maldonado scored off a rebound in the 62nd minute of the match to break the scoreless tie before adding the secondary assist 20 minutes later to account for the 2-0 final score.

Junior defenseman Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.) was tabbed to the honor roll after assisting on both of the Rams' game-winning tallies in over USMMA and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.

This week, Farmingdale State plays two home conference games: Wednesday vs. vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 6:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Old Westbury @ 12:00 p.m.

 

Women's Tennis Update (5-3, 3-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's tennis team won all three matches they played last week. FSC defeated conference opponents Manhattanville and Sarah Lawrence by the same score of 8-1 and won their scrimmage over Suffolk County Community College, 6-3. 

Rams' sophomore Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) earned Player of the Week honors as she was undefeated in the two Skyline matches. Lettieri swept past Manhattanville in doubles play with Shari Jackson, before capturing an 8-7 decision over Sarah Lawrence. She won 7-5 and 6-2 against the Valiants in singles play, before earning a win by retirement later in the week versus the Gryphons.

The Rams will play three matches this week: Wednesday at Yeshiva @ 8:00 p.m., Thursday vs. Brooklyn @ 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Saint Mary @ 12:00 p.m.

 

Men's Golf Update - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State won the Mount Saint Mary Skyline Invitational last week after posting a team-total of 307, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Manhattanville.

Freshman Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) was named the Player of the Week for the third time this season. He earned medalist honors at the MSMC Invitational, shooting a plus-3 score of 73 at the Powelton Club. 

The Rams next will travel to Saratoga National Golf Club for the Saratoga National Invitational hosted by Skidmore College on Saturday, October 9th and Sunday, October 10th.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (8-8, 4-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State defeated conference opponent Mount Saint Mary, 3-1, and Purchase, 3-0, last week.

Freshman middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. Profeta hit at a .536 clip (19-4-28) in the four-set triumph against Mount Saint Mary and added a career-high three assisted blocks in the sweep over Purchase.

Juniors Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) and Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) were both named to the Player of the Week honor roll. Flamio put down 3.0 kills per set, while Pozo recorded 3.86 digs per set in the 2-0 week.

After earning a 3-0 sweep of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday, FSC plays two more matches this week: Thursday at Manhattanville @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. William Paterson at 12:00 p.m.

 

Women's Soccer Update (6-4, 3-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's soccer team hosted St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for a conference game last week and won, 9-0.

Freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) was tabbed the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. She led the Rams' efforts in the shutout over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn with two goals and one assist.

Junior forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) earned a spot on the honor roll after collecting two goals and an assist last week.

The week, Farmingdale State will travel to play non-conference opponent Scranton on Tuesday @ 7:00 p.m. before heading to Mount Saint Mary for a Skyline game on Saturday @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Men's Full Report  Women's Full Report

The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Newark, N.J. for the Highlander XC Challenge last week and placed 17th and 24th, respectively. 

The Rams next will compete at the Annual Golden Eagle Invitational at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. on Sunday, October 10th.
