FSC Athletics Fall Update #4

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its fourth fall weekly report on Monday, September 27th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Women's Volleyball Update (5-8, 1-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's volleyball team went 2-1 last week, with a five-set, come-from-behind win over conference opponent Merchant Marine.

Freshman middle blocker Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. She recorded a .396 hitting percentage, with 25 kills and seven blocks (3 solo) on the week. In the 3-2 win vs. USMMA, she had a career-best 12 kills (.333 hitting %) and four blocks. On Saturday vs. Keystone, she had eight kills with an .889 hitting percentage and two blocks in two sets played.

Farmingdale State plays two Skyline matches this week: Tuesday at Mount Saint Mary @ 7:00 p.m. and Thursday at Purchase @ 7:00 p.m.

 

Women's Tennis Update (3-3, 1-0 Skyline)

The women's tennis team opened their conference schedule last week against Purchase and earned a 7-2 win. 

Freshman Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) was tabbed the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. In the victory over the Panthers, Collings won at #1 doubles, 8-3, and followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #3 singles. Freshman Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned a spot on the honor roll as she picked up wins at #1 doubles and #1 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

This week the Rams will play three home matches: Wednesday vs. Manhattanville @ 4:30 p.m., Thursday vs. Suffolk CC @ 6:00 p.m. (exhibition) and Friday vs. Sarah Lawrence @ 4:30 p.m.

 

Cross Country Update 

The cross country teams competed at the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invitational this past weekend. The men placed fourth (out of 20), while the women came in seventh (out of 15).

Sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) was named to the Runner of the Week honor roll after recording a 10th place finish out of 81 competitors in 28:25.7.

The Rams next will head to the Highlander XC Challenge in Branch Brook, N.J. on Saturday, October 2nd.

 

Men's Soccer Update (4-3, 2-0 Skyline)

The men's soccer team earned two Skyline Conference victories last week over Sarah Lawrence, 1-0, and St. Joseph's-Long Island, 4-0.

FSC had two named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll, junior defender Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.) and sophomore goalkeeper Justin Silva (Bellrose, N.Y.). Lanouette tallied two goals, including the game-winner, at St. Joe's, while Silva picked up two shutout victories with six saves.

This week, Farmingdale State plays two conference games: Tuesday at Merchant Marine @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 12:00 p.m.

 

Women's Soccer Update (5-4, 2-0 Skyline)

The Rams played three home games last week and defeated Arcadia, 2-1, but fell to both Montclair State (3-1) and #9 Trinity (TX) (2-1).

This week, the women's soccer team hosts St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for a conference game on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

 

Men's Golf Update - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State had the week off and will head to the Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y. for the Mount Saint Mary Skyline Invitational on Friday.
