Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team earned a 9-0 Skyline victory at Mount Saint Mary College this afternoon. The Rams improved to 5-0 in conference play and have clinched the #1 seed for the upcoming playoffs.
In doubles, FSC (7-3) freshmen Anastasia Hoffman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) defeated junior Julia Flynn (Naugatuck, Conn.) and sophomore Carly Green (Holbrook, N.Y.), 8-2.
Farmingdale State sophomores Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and Shari Jackson (Copiague, N.Y.) earned an 8-4 win versus senior Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) and freshman Victoria Valencia (Floral Park, N.Y.).
In the third position, FSC's Mia Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) and Natasha Henderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) won by default.
Leading 3-0 heading into singles play, Hoffman (7-6 (7-1), 6-0) and Lettieri (6-0, 6-2) captured the first and second positions as Jackson (6-2, 6-2) and Murrell (6-2, 7-5) earned wins in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
At #3 singles, Collings was victorious in a super tiebreaker over Green (6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (10-6)). After splitting the first two sets and remaining tied at 6-6 in the third set, Collings earned a 10-6 win in the super tiebreaker.
Rams' freshman Susana Pariona (Farmingdale, N.Y.) won in the sixth position by default as FSC went on for the 9-0 victory.
Farmingdale State next will play host to non-conference opponent Lehman College on Tuesday, October 12th at 4:30 p.m.
