
2008 Women’s Tennis Season Recap
Farmingdale, N.Y. – The women’s
tennis team finished with an overall record of 7-7, including 3-5
in Skyline Conference play, giving them a birth to the playoffs for
the second consecutive season. The Rams were defeated by Sage
College, 5-0, in the Quarterfinal round of the Skyline
playoffs.
Farmingdale State was led by senior Oshea Davis (Hempstead, N.Y.),
who received First Team All-Skyline honors. Davis was the number
one singles player for the Rams and posted a 6-4 record. In first
doubles she finished 10-1 overall, 6-1 in the conference. Sophomore
Jessica Gentile (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was named Second Team All-Skyline
after finishing the season 8-2 overall in second singles, 5-1 in
Skyline play. Junior Kate Mcentee (Greenwich, CT.) teamed up with
Davis, forming the doubles tandem that suffered only one loss on
the season.
Farmingdale State will be returning five of the team’s seven
players for the 2009 season and will attempt to make the playoffs
for the third consecutive season.
