Farmingdale State Falls to Williams in Non-Conference Game

Williamstown, Mass. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team traveled to Williamstown, Massachusetts for a non-conference game at Williams College and fell, 3-0.

The Ephs (5-7-1) started quickly as they scored just 8:58 into the game. Williams drew a foul inside the box and senior midfielder Victoria Laino (Zurich, Switzerland) buried the penalty kick to go in front, 1-0.

Williams controlled play in the first half as they held Farmingdale State (9-7) without a shot while attempting seven. 

The Rams best chance came at 58:29 in the second half when senior midfielder Tara Lyons (Wantagh, N.Y.) sent a shot that went by the goalkeeper, but was saved by an Ephs defender.

Just over five minutes later, FSC freshman forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) took a shot on net that was saved by senior goalie Chelsea Taylor (Westborough, Mass.).

With 8:40 remaining, Williams extended their lead to 2-0 as junior midfielder Liz Girvan (Highland Park, N.Y.) scored off the double assist from Kelly Beal (Hamilton, N.J.) and Rain Conde (New York, N.Y.). 

Just over four minutes later, senior midfielder Aspen Pearson (Framingham, Mass.) set up freshman midfielder Tori Huang (Arlington, Mass.) for a goal to take a commanding 3-0 advantage.

FSC was held without a shot in the final five minutes as the Ephs earned the 3-0 non-conference win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.) (L, 2-5) made four saves for the Rams, while Taylor (W, 3-7-1) stopped one shot for Williams.

FSC next will host conference opponent Purchase College on Tuesday, October 19th at 4:00 p.m.
