Rams Fall to Virginia Wesleyan; Eliminated from NCAA Regionals

#1 Virginia Wesleyan - 7, #4 Farmingdale State - 1


Virginia Beach, Va. - The Farmingdale State softball team fell to top-seeded and #2 in the Nation Virginia Wesleyan in the NCAA Regionals this morning. The host Marlins recorded a 7-1 win over the Rams.

Virginia Wesleyan (39-5-1) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a 2 RBI single down the right field line by junior center fielder Ariana Rolle (Marion, IA).

In the top of the fourth, graduate student Madison Glaubke (Virginia Beach, Va.) hit an RBI single down the left field line to put the Marlins on top, 3-0. Senior third baseman Danielle Stewart (Centerville, Md.) and senior second baseman Katelyn Biando (Suffolk, Va.) added RBI's as Virginia Wesleyan took a 5-0 advantage.

Trailing 7-0 in the bottom of the seventh, FSC scored their only run of the game on an Amaris Negron (Central Islip, N.Y.) RBI single up the middle which scored Sabrina Snyder (Brentwood, N.Y.).

Negron finished the day 3-for-3 with an RBI, while sophomore right fielder Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) and freshman third baseman Brooke Walker (Westhampton, N.Y.) each added a hit for the Rams.

VWU Head Coach Brandon Elliott claimed his 500th career victory this morning.

Farmingdale State has been eliminated from the tournament and ended the season with a 19-7 record.
