Cross Country Places 10th at SJC Invitational

Kings Park, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State cross country teams traveled to Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. on Saturday to compete in the SJC Invitational and came in 10th place in both races. In the meet that featured Division I, II, III programs, Monroe earned the win in the men's 8k (out of 23 schools), while St. Thomas Aquinas took first the women's 5k (out of 14 schools).

Farmingdale State junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) came in 17th place out of 144 runners in the men's race in a time of 30:06.86. Freshmen Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) and Daniel Catano (Deer Park, N.Y.) earned 58th and 66th in times of 33:20.53 and 34:28.04. Patrick Vierling (Deer Park, N.Y.) (34:47.15), Wyatt Rogers (Central Square, N.Y.) (35:26.78) and Thomas Moeller (Kings Park, N.Y.) (36:06.35) finished in 71st, 79th and 82nd, respectively.

For the women, sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) came in 20th out of 119 competitors in 21:47.30. Freshman Gianna Scibelli (North Babylon, N.Y.) placed 60th in a time of 25:46.08, while junior Nazira Bah-Traore (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and freshman Mia Harris (Manhattan, N.Y.) tallied 75th and 77th in 27:16.01 and 27:41.60.

The Rams next compete in the Skyline Conference Championship at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. on Sunday, October 24th.
